Anti-Gravity Case

2016-09-03

I'm always amused when findgin a gadget so obvious that nobody has ever imagined before.
The anti-gravity case is a typical example. Anti-gravity is a "big word". Nano-suction case seems more appropriate. Regardless the marketing word, I like the idea.

Fujifilm X-A3

2016-08-30

While the new Canon EOS camera is due to arrive in September, for the following month Fujifilm has announced a new upgrade to their X-A series, the X-A3.
Definitely not the level of sophistication of the new Canon, but roughly 5 times cheaper! The X-A3 mirrorless camera has now a 24.2 megapixels CMOS sensor. Additional new features include a flip screen to take selfie, smile detection and skin-tone improvements.

This is an excellent camera to take selfies with nice sceneary in the background for your social-media sites. As far as choosing a new camera, I would definitely prefer investing more in the new Canon EOS. The X-A3 is set to arrive in October, with a price in the US$600 range with the 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS II kit lens.

SSD Backup Drive

2016-08-29

Using the "cloud" to store all your files, photos, videos on external drives is not always possible, especially while traveling in location with no or slow internet. In fact, I prefer to keep my own backup. The SSD technology is definitely a big improvement to keep all your data with you, and the capacity is increasing very fast. The latest drive from Samsung is the 4TB 850 EVO SSD.

Small 3.9 x 2.8 x 0.3", light 54grams, and fast 540MB/s read and 520MB/s to write.
In case 4TB is not enough, the recently announced 16TB SSD, the largest capacity hard drive, is based on the same V-NAND flash memory architecture, and should cost around $6,000.
